Smart and on point as usual! I do wonder though if there is a world leader left who thinks that, at this stage of his presidency, trump is anything but a senile easy to flatter blow hard. Trump's way of handling foreign politics "a rolling series of tactical impulses stitched together by presidential confidence" is erratic and short sighted because he is loose cannon playing with our world's future based on his moods. The fact that he is psychologically unhinged and in cognitive decline only makes things worse.
Xi knows Trump is a buffoon and will take advantage of that. He sees tgere are no great minds behind Trump, only Trump's bravado and need for praise. Xi will play him for all he can, because Trump has always been for his whole life only a facade. With a narcissist there is no there, there. His biggest mistake is never listening to those that could give him better advice, but he always believes he is right. Only a very stupid person believes they are always right!
@elise labott I’ve been thinking about the following article and an analogy I draw from it — that NATO’s security guarantees function a bit like a high dividend with no underlying business behind it: Article 5 looks exactly the same on paper regardless of whether the stockpiles, production capacity, and political will actually exist behind it.
What do you think of the comparison? And if you could pick one of the stocks mentioned in the article — HIW, NEHI, or Spotify — which one would you choose?
